After leaving an abusive relationship, Louise seeks refuge with a trauma treatment facility that promises healing. But as she learns more about their treatment methods, she starts to realize that the organization's motivations may be far more sinister than they seem.

serpentine was written and produced by Annie Young, and co-directed by Annie Young and Madeline Mack. It was shot in Abiquiu, New Mexico and is currently being submitted for the 2024-2025 festival circuit. Most recently, the short became an official selection at Greenpoint Film Festival in Brooklyn, Tacoma Film Festival in Washington, and Made By Woman Festival in Salzburg, where it won Best Short Film. Previously, serpentine screened online with Feedback Female Festival where it received an award for Best Performances. It was also chosen as a Semi Finalist for NY Indie Shorts Awards and Mirada Corta Short Film Festival.

My ceramic work is rooted in a background in sculpture and shaped by a longstanding love of surrealist art. I’m interested in the tension between utility and expression - how an object can be both functional and strange, grounded and slightly off-balance. 

I work with handbuilding and wheel techniques to create pieces that have personality Texture, asymmetry, and imperfection are all important parts of my work. My goal isn’t polish, but presence: objects that feel alive, with their own distinct personality.
